Chevron's Urban Reforestation Project and the "Let's Grow" Tree Planting Event

Since 1998, Trees For Houston has partnered with Chevron for the "Let's Grow" tree planting project aimed at expanding Houston's urban forest. Today, trees can be found growing on a half acre of land on the Chevron North American production field in Humble, TX.

In the spring, approximately 500 volunteers, young and old, from north to south, including Chevron employees and their families, join together to plant 6,000 seedlings of various native species including oaks, blad cypress, and other hardwood trees. These seedlings are generously donated by the Texas Forest Service.

Chevron employees and local volunteers nuture the trees over a nine month period providing the necessary water, fertilizer and weed abatement. In December, seedlings are available to the public for free. Given the proper planting instructions, citizens are encouraged to plant their tree at home or school, in a park or around the neighborhood.

Trees For Houston uses a portion of these trees to reforest Houston's thoroughfares, freeways, residential streets, local parks and school campuses.

Chevron is a leader in finding, producing and marketing oil and natural gas in more than 100 countries. Chevron cares about the environment and is proud of the many ways in which its employees work to safeguard it.
