Root Ball 2012: Let Your Love Flow, Grow and Show

The 2012 Root Ball, March 29, was a groovy night for the trees. The rainy weather called for a quick change and a large tent to be set up at a private club in town, but the night cleared and supporters arrived in their 70s best to benefit Trees For Houston and their mission to plant, protect and promote trees. Over 400 guests mixed and mingled, sipping cool cocktails and enjoying a buffet of 70s southern inspired fried chicken, pork tenderloin, fresh grilled veggies and delicious 7-layer chocolate cake with peppermint ice cream. The appeal for the night focused on the drought to provide funds to replant parks in Houston. Tree paddles were raised over the entire party as guests participated in the cause and raised more than $80,000 to replant Houston.  Klockwork Band rocked out to 70s hits with a packed dance floor throughout the night. Chairs Laura and Andrew McCullough raised a record $350,000 for the evening.
